Award-Winning Children's Nonfiction Books

At Bearport Publishing, we believe that books with good writing and amazing photos are irresistible to kids. We also believe that providing books kids want to read is one of the surest ways to foster reading achievement. These two principles guide the development of all our curriculum-aligned nonfiction titles for children in grades PreK-8.

Our high-interest nonfiction books help get kids excited about reading, even if they are struggling or reluctant readers. We focus on topics that appeal to young readers, such as animals, sports heroes, and scary places. With every book, we pay close attention to text length, vocabulary, and picture-text match. We limit the amount of text on each two-page spread to leave lots of space for big, bold photographs. This makes our books less intimidating and more inviting to kids.

Primary Nonfiction

Our primary books help beginning readers in grades PreK-3 build confidence in their skills and develop a love of reading. Developed by literacy experts, these titles feature clear, easy-to-read text, colorful photographs, and popular age-appropriate subjects.

Narrative Nonfiction

Everyone enjoys a good story, especially when the story is true and the characters are real. Our high-interest narrative nonfiction books grab and hold a child's attention with well-told stories on topics that engage young readers.

High-Interest Nonfiction

Accessible and easy to read without looking "babyish," these high-interest, lower reading level books are packed with amazing photos and are ideal for struggling readers. Kids can enjoy these books on their own, even if they're reading below grade level.
