Our eBooks feature the same beautiful content as the printed books, but the eBooks are available online, anytime, and have additional features for young researchers. Bearport eBooks were designed specifically for schools and libraries and will help you increase access to the best nonfiction resources.
Kids can access your library’s eBooks from school or home. The site license provides unlimited, simultaneous user access, so everyone can use the same eBook with no waiting. Features like pages that “flip” with a fun sound will engage kids, while a fully-linked table of contents and the ability to search, bookmark, and print will help them research nonfiction topics for reports. A reporting tool tracks the usage statistics for your library’s eBooks.
All of Bearport's eBooks are now compatible with the iPad as well as any PC or Mac computer. Please note that when viewing the eBooks on an iPad, the search and bookmarking features are not available.
The eBooks can be viewed in a web browser on any computer or iPad with Internet access. There are three ways users can access the eBooks:
Bearport’s eBook website: Users can log into our eBook website to search or browse all of the eBooks your school or library has purchased.
Your school or library’s website: You can link to Bearport’s eBook website from your school or library’s website for easy access.
Your library’s OPAC: If you provide an IP address range or a referring URL for user authentication, users can click a link in the MARC record to access the eBook immediately. If an IP range or referring URL is not provided, however, students will be rerouted to the log-in page.
Yes, MARC records are available for all Bearport eBooks. To order MARC records, please contact Customer Service at service@bearportpublishing.com or (877) 337-8577. You can contact Customer Service with your processing order either before or after you place your order. For orders over $350, MARC records are free; for orders under $350, the price is $12.00 per order.
Note that if you provide an IP address range or a referring URL for user authentication, students can access the eBook directly from the MARC record. A link to the eBook is stored in the 856 tag; students can click the link in your library’s online catalog to access the eBook immediately. If an IP range or referring URL is not provided, however, students will be rerouted to the log-in page.
Yes, students have 24/7 access to your Bearport eBooks from any computer or iPad with Internet access, whether at school or at home. When kids access the eBooks from home, they will need to be authenticated through your library’s website or OPAC, or through the username and password for your library.
Yes, users can print as many pages as needed. Only two pages may be printed at a time, however, to encourage children to print only the pages they need, instead of the whole book.
Yes, bookmarks can be saved on individual computers, unless your school or library uses dynamic IP addresses. If you use dynamic IP addresses, bookmarks will not be stored after the computer is shut down. The bookmarking feature is particularly useful for students working on reports from home.
The bookmarking feature is not available on the iPad at this time. However, you can use the bookmarking feature built into your iPad's browser to bookmark specific pages in an eBook.
You can order eBooks through our website by placing titles in your cart and proceeding through the checkout process. You can also order Bearport eBooks by phone, fax, mail, or email, or by calling your local sales rep. A downloadable order form is available on the
Order Form webpage.
A Savings Bundle is a discounted print + eBook product. Schools and libraries will receive 25% off the eBook school/library price when they also order the print edition direct from Bearport. Purchasing the bundle is a great way to insure that titles are available in a variety of formats at your library, and will allow you to provide students with 24/7 access to nonfiction titles.
Prices listed on the website and in the catalog are for single-building site licenses only. For information on pricing for districts or library consortia, please email either Gabe Kaufman at
gkaufman@bearportpublishing.com or Linda McGee at
lmcgee@bearportpublishing.com.
Yes, we have sales representatives in most areas who would be happy to visit your library and demonstrate the eBooks. Contact your Local Sales Rep or Customer Service for more information.
Bearport's web-hosted eBooks are flipbooks that can be accessed online in a web browser at any time. You won't need to download or manage any files. When viewed on a PC or Mac computer, Bearport flipbooks use Flash; when viewed on an iPad, they use HTML5.
Username and Password: When you set up an account, you can request specific usernames and passwords for the administrator log-in and the student log-in. Many librarians choose to have all of their students use the same username/password, but you can set up as many additional log-ins as you like.
IP Address Authentication: If you provide us with your school’s IP address range, students and teachers who access Bearport eBooks from your building will automatically be logged in and will not have to enter a username and password. Please note that IP authentication is not an access option in districts that use a shared public IP address (unless a district-wide order is placed).
Referring URL: If your school has a secure password-protected site and you provide us with the URL, students will be automatically logged in when they click on a Bearport link from your site, whether they are at school or at home. Bearport will provide logos or cover images for your website upon request.
MARC Records: Students can access the eBooks directly from a link in the MARC records in your library’s online catalog. However, if no IP Authentication or referring URL is provided, users will be redirected to a log-in screen when they click on the link in your online catalog.

A standard site license for Bearport Web-Hosted eBooks provides access for authorized users in a single building at a single location only. For school libraries, authorized users include the administration, faculty, staff, students, and parents of students; for public libraries, authorized users include the staff and residents of the locality that funds the library. These authorized users may access Bearport eBooks from the institution or from remote locations with proper authentication. Users may not share their institution’s username and password with any individual who is not an authorized user. Bearport reserves the right to terminate your access to the licensed materials without refund if these terms are violated. Bearport will not terminate the site license without first notifying the institution of use violations and giving the school or library the opportunity to resolve any violations.
All eBooks are copyrighted by Bearport Publishing. No transfer of copyright is made by the site license. You may not sell or transfer the licensed materials.

Due to the evolving landscape of technology and eBooks, Bearport reserves the right to change or upgrade the eBook product by either transferring/upgrading the eBooks to a new digital platform, or, if this is not possible, ending the hosting service and providing a digital copy of the titles at no charge.
